Raschig polymer (plastic) rings are made from materials resistant to heat and corrosion, including polyethylene (PE), polypropylene (PP), reinforced polypropylene (RPP), polyvinyl chloride (PVC), and others. Features of this product include high void fraction, low pressure drop, low mass transfer per unit height, uniform gas–liquid phase contact, low specific weight, and high mass transfer efficiency. These products are well suited for a temperature range of 30 to 150 °C and, for this reason, have been widely used and valued in the chemical and petrochemical industries, alkali and chloride industries, coal gas industry, environmental protection, and more. By using special engineering polymer materials, the operating temperature range of the packings can of course be increased.
Cylindrical packings are among the first generation of random packings and are still in use. Their rapid production rate and ease of manufacture make them low-cost, which increases their appeal and they continue to be used across various industries.
